Makoto slowly opened her eyelids from sleep and found the sunlight harsh against her eyes. A slight groan escaped her lips as she felt a dull ache spreading from her temples throughout her entire forehead. The goddess did not bother looking at the wall clock hanging across her bed, judging by how harsh the sun it was already nearing noon. "Good thing it's a weekend." she thought. "Great, I have to meet Shizuo in about two hours and I feel like crap." Makoto muttered to herself as she got out of bed. Being in a different room and without Ami's usual prescence the goddess spent most of the night staring and cursing at the empty walls. Makoto was accustomed to sleeping in the genius' bed, sheets, scent, and if truth be told Ami 's prescence itself lulled her to slumber. Bah, Ami. The name instantly stamped a frown on Makoto's features. Ami wanted to get rid of the goddess immediately, called Shizuo names, and most of all, called her stupid. The better part of the goddess' now mortal brain reminded her that Ami did say she loves her, so she had to consider temporary insanity over love sickness on the mortal's part. Makoto felt an involuntary smile forming on her lips, but Ami's voice began playing on her head. "...become STUPID and hurt YOURSELF in the end with that SAD EXCUSE for a man SHIZUO!!!" Had it been anyone else other than the puny genius Makoto would most certainly have no qualms in electrifying them until their eyeballs popped. And so Makoto had to settle instead with walking out on Ami. Along with that, walking out of her shared room, roommate, and a goodnight's sleep. However, she had too much of an evil monster called pride on her back, Makoto was not about to knock and ask the genius to share her bed the previous night given the events which transpired. So the lightning goddess settled with sleeping in one of the many rooms in the Mizuno mansion. Makoto was already in the bathroom doing her daily acts of hygiene when she realized something. All of her clothes were in in Ami's room. The goddess found herself groaning in frustration, she had stayed with Ami long enough to know that the girl almost never left her room on weekends. The only occassions wherein the genius left her room was either to have something to eat or spend some rare quality time with her mother, and the older Mizuno would not be around until late in the evening. The young woman gripped on the sides of the sink, staring at her reflection as she thinked. She was not about to meet Shizuo in day-old underwear and school clothes. Makoto was also not about to swallow her pride, waltz into Ami's room and sweetly ask for the clothes the genius had bought for her last weekend. No, she was a goddess who would stand tall and not bow to the evil genius girl. "A goddess who would be in a stinky uniform and underwear on her first date." a voice rang on Makoto's ear. "What? Who said that?" Makoto spun around and looked for the source, thinking that the voice sounded familiar. "Over here, lightning brain." the voice once again echoed, coming from the bathtub. The goddess' eyes widened, realizing who it was. She stomped over to the bathtub, roughly shoving the shower curtains aside. There she found a tall blonde woman, dressed in loose flowing white robes that fell beyond her feet. She was nearly transparent, but still the lively glimmer in her blue-green eyes could be seen. "Haruka!" Makoto squealed happily, reaching out to hug the woman. The lightning goddess found her face hitting the wall instead when she went right through the tall woman. Makoto hissed in pain and then sat herself on the edge of the bathtub. "What the...why can't I touch you?" "Well, you're a mortal at the moment." Haruka wagged her finger at the young woman. " And Michiru wouldn't like it." "Airhead blonde." Makoto jeered, chuckling at how true her taunt for Haruka was, she was blonde and also the wind spirit. "What took you so long and speaking of the sea spirit, where is she?" "You see, lightning brain," the wind goddess began "Michiru's out, touring the seas on her own for a while, she said something about me and those mortals' yachts not being a good match." Haruka then whipped out a breeze at Makoto, making the lightning goddess shiver as she was still wet and naked from the bath. "And forgive me for being late, it took me a while to find and catch you without the company of mortals. Wait, I don't recall you having breasts that..." "Stop that!" Makoto snapped, grabbing a towel to cover herself from the breeze and the blonde goddess' leering. "I'm glad you did find me and..." the lightning goddess' eyes narrowed, remembering Haruka's comment about her stinky clothes and her date. "...who gave you permission to dig around my brain?!" Haruka only gave her a mischevous grin. "Oh, I can because you're just a stinky mor..." Lightning ripped, barely missing Haruka's short blonde hair. "Hey, watch it! That can still hurt me, you know!" "That's the idea." Makoto scowled and started heading outside of the bathroom. "Read my brain again and I promise I won't miss." The blonde goddess followed, floating on her way. "Just so you'll know, I can't read your brain, but I can hear your thoughts if I wanted to." Haruka saw a faint glow starting to emanate from Makoto. "Well someone's temper is as quick as her element." "What are you doing here anyway?" Makoto barked as she turned around to face Haruka. "I'm fairly sure you can't give me back my original form." "And I thought you were happy to see me..." Haruka sighed mockingly, then smiled cooly at the other girl. "I just missed you and..." "Setsuna and Hotaru aren't around either, are they?" Makoto smiled back knowingly, folding her arms to her ample chest. "Well...yeah, that too. They'd be coming to see you too as soon as they come back from their own trips." Haruka admitted. "You wouldn't mind me hanging around with you and that mortal in the meantime?" Makoto dropped the towel, slipping into a bathrobe instead. "Depends, which mortal?" The wind goddess tapped on Makoto's forehead, only to have her finger go through. "The one you have a date with, lightning brain." Makoto jumped, looking at the clock. It read 11:17, and she had to meet Shizuo by noon. "Oh shit oh shit oh shit! I have to get dressed!" The lightning goddess was running around frantically in the room. To dress in stinky used clothes or swallow her pride and go to Ami's room. If only going naked was an option. "No choice but the latter." she sighed, and at that she bolted out, still wet and hair undone, running towards the young genius' room, leaving the wind goddess. Haruka raised an eyebrow, looking puzzled. "Shit? Is that some crazy mortal word?" She faded from the room, only to reappear on where Makoto was. There the blonde goddess found the sight of the former immortal amusing, Makoto was staring at the doorknob and had her shaky hand extended to it. "Aren't you supposed to turn that thing?" Haruka pointed out. "I know!" Makoto spat out irritatedly. "Ignore her, grab the clothes, then run. Right...right." the lightning goddess reassured herself. With great effort, Makoto turned the doorknob and stepped in. She was immediately greeted by the sight of Ami's sleeping form curled on the floor right next to the machine. "That's a relief." Makoto heaved a sigh, beginning to tiptoe towards the closet. She was just to pass through Ami when she caught the sight of the girl's face. The young genius' face looked like a messy charcoal sketch, except for the clear marks left by tears. The soft blue hair clung to the neck and face, the eyes were swollen and the expression hinted at how uncomfortable the floor was. She was still in the same outfit from the previous night, only dirtier and more disheveled from how the lightning goddess remembered it. Makoto concluded that Ami had spent the entire night working, then felt a wrenching pain in her chest. "I guess I can't leave her like this..." Makoto mumbled as she crouched besides the sleeping girl. The lightning goddess carefully lifted Ami in her arms and carried her off to the bed. "Whoa. Who's this cute little kitten?" Haruka appeared before Makoto, hovering around Ami. "Could use a tongue bath though..." "Ami Mizuno, she's the one who dragged me into this world." the lightning goddess replied softly. "And keep quiet, you might wake her up." "Fine, let's talk in our thoughts then." Haruka smirked and watched how Makoto looked so gentle in handling the mortal. Something then struck her mind. "Wait, is this the mortal who you're so scared of?" she jabbed into the lightning goddess' brain. Makoto jerked her head to the other goddess' direction, frowning. "Correction, I'm not scared of her, I'm just avoiding her." She stopped at the edge of the bed, gently setting down Ami onto the matress. Makoto then sat herself besides the sleeping girl, gingerly brushing away some of the hair that clung to the face. The tall girl smiled when she saw a look of comfort spread across the sleeping girl's face, until she heard Haruka's chuckling in her head. "What is it now, airhead?" Makoto drawled in her thoughts. "Nothing at all, just liking the fact you found yourself a mortal lover." Haruka answered, sounding pleased. Makoto shook her head. "Nuh-uh. Correction, she's my ticket out of here and she's NOT my lover." She then pulled the sheets, covering Ami with them. Haruka floated to the other side of the bed and sat. "Oh, c'mon. You don't look at anyone like that without at least liking them." She began filling the room with cool air. "And, I've never seen you be THAT gentle and caring to anyone before." Makoto rolled her eyes. "Whatever, airhead." She looked over to the desk clock. "Shit, now I'm really going to be late." the goddess mumbled out aloud, and was just about to stand up until she decided to take a last look at the sleeping Ami. The smaller girl was curling up to the sheets now, looking relaxed and a tiny smile on her face. "Haruka's right, she is cute...although that's an understatement. Pretty...heck, beautiful even." Makoto found herself asking why she only began noticing that now. "Told ya." Haruka jabbed at the other goddess. The sound of whipping thunder outside promptly silenced the wind goddess. "Just hurry up so I can check out your date already." "You won't be doing much of that, since my date's a he." Makoto snickered at Haruka's pained reaction. "And here I thought you have good taste." the wind goddess stroked Ami's cheek, grinning from ear to ear. "Then just let me stay here and take care of your mortal friend." The lightning goddess glared at her wind counterpart. "No." she said gravely. "Well get your mortal butt on the move on then!" Haruka floated towards the closet. "Alright already!" Makoto screamed in her thoughts. She peered over her shoulder, finding Haruka occupied with the clothes she found inside the closet and was commenting on how stupid they looked. Makoto then turned back to Ami's sleeping form. She focused on how the girl's eyes were so swollen, and began to remember how she left Ami all alone, crying to herself. The goddess suddenly clutched at her chest, feeling the stinging pain return. Makoto sat back down besides Ami, a look of concern in her eyes. "I really did hurt you bad, didn't I?" Her fine fingers moved on their own accord and began to run over the sleeping girl's cheek. "Makoto, remember, you're not Setsuna..." Haruka complained, and the howling of strong wind can be heard from outside. The lightning goddess sighed. "Okay, okay, I'm moving!" On impulse, Makoto planted a soft kiss on Ami's forehead and then left for Haruka and her clothes. "Mmm...Mako-chan..." Ami mumbled in her sleep.
